ROUND 2: SILVERSTONE
We returned for round two of the PS20K held at the infamous Silverstone track. With Round 1 allowing the drivers to settle the pecking order, Round 2 was always going to be about validating the performances at Kyalami.
Some expected results and some unexpected results were delivered on the day with Junior McColl, brother of Morgan McColl, racing like a veteran driver. At only 12 years old he has taken his first win, stepping onto Pro-AM division podium top spot. He was followed by Jason Isherwood who took the honour at Kyalami in Round 1. In the third position, we had Bernard King.
Ahead of race day, there were a number of debates around the Porches showing in the Pro Division and whether it would be as dominant at Silverstone. Not one to disappoint, the Porsche once again took the majority of the top ten places in the Pro division. The question now is, whether the Porches dominance will be undone on the circuits which offer longer straights where high sustained power output is an advantage.
As was to be expected Zaahir Essa once again rode away from the rest of Pro field and looked very comfortable until he crossed the finish line with back to back wins and maximum championship points.
An outstanding performance by renowned racing driver Charl Wilken, was just not enough to make up the time on Basheer Jadwat in second place. Also among the Top 10 was Jordan Sherrat who put in a commanding performance. Unfortunately, Jason Absmeier was involved in a race incident early on which saw him taken down the order to eventually finish in XXth.
