RULES & REGULATIONS

Series Overview


ATK Pro Series 2020 is a Sim Racing competition that will take in the lead up to the
Blancpain GT Series (the GT3 racing championship organized by Stéphane Ratel Organisation
Motorsports Group) event taking place at Kyalami, South Africa. The competition will consist
of eleven online and one on-site Sim Race featuring the game Assetto Corsa Competizione®.
The rounds will be hosted online with the final event being held at the Kyalami Grand Prix
Circuit. Players’ travel and expenses are not covered by the ATK ESPORTS  (Pty) Ltd.

 

Rounds and accompanying circuits are as follows:

Round 9. Bathurst (Mount Panorama) - 9 August 2020
Round 10. Suzuka  - 23 August 2020
Round 11. Spa - 13 September 2020

The Esports series will feature up to three classes: Am, ProAm and Pro with up to 30 drivers
per class.


Teams of two drivers and their manager/team principle are required to register their
intention to participate at proseries.co.za and should do so with a view to participating in all
of the twelve races outlined.

 

Format


One hot lap qualifying lobby will run at a time to determine Pro, ProAm and Am divisions. Drivers
will be informed the day before of their applicable qualifying times. These qualifying times will be
randomly selected to prevent teaming issues (slipstreaming, blocking etc) but concessions can be
made should drivers not be available for their allocated time slot.


On race day, only the Pro division race will be broadcast or produced, although this is subject to
change based on demand.


Races will begin with the Am division proceeding over 5 hours and ending with the Pro division.

ATK Pro Series 2020 Regulations: Extended Version

 

 

1. General


This championship is organized by ATK ESPORTS (Pty) Ltd featuring the game “Assetto Corsa
Competizione – The Official Blancpain GT Series Game”®. All dates are referring to the year
2020. At on-site events, all the computers, wheels, pedal sets and needed devices for the 8
simulators will be provided by the organization and personal devices won’t be allowed.
Players must be at least 16 years of age in order to access the on-site selections. They also
need to own a regular Assetto Corsa Competizione Steam license (PC platform only).

 

 

2. Series Categories


The championship has 3 different categories with only the Pro class being eligible for the
title of “South Africa’s Fastest GT3 Racer” as recognised by the Kyalami 9 Hour event
organisers.
The top 10 drivers from the Pro and ProAm respectively will be invited to a special sim
racers area of the Kyalami 9 Hour event being held at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.

 

3. Rounds and Dates


The ATK Esport GT Series consists of 11 online and 1 on-site Rounds:

Final Rounds
 

The ATK Esport GT Series will have a Grand Finale hosted at Kyalami from 19 to 21
November 2020. Both are anticipated to be physical, on-site events consisting of 8 racing
rigs.


Up to 10 entrants will be invited to lobbies involving free practice for setup, qualifying and
race in the following format:


● Practice: 10min
● Ready Up: 5min
● Qualifying: 20min
● Race: 50min
● Wrap Up: 5min
● Total Time: 90min


Physical races will see 2 heats for each of Pro and ProAm class in the order of current
standings in the series on day 1 of the event.


All players must be present for their allocated heat on day one with the top 4 of each heat
qualifying for the Saturday event consisting of up to 8 drivers.

 

 

4. Race Format

5. How to Join the Series


Those teams and drivers wishing to participate in the ATK Pro Series 2020 will be required
to register at proseries.co.za.


It is highly recommended that the team appoint a team manager in order to represent the
team and its requirements throughout the series. The team manager should also make
himself available on race day in order to manage race time communication between casters,
stewards and drivers.

 

 

6. Race Direction, Communication, Disqualifications and Rules

o Race Direction
Race director and marshals will organize a race briefing 30 minutes before
the start of each race or race heat


o Evidence
Race Replay will be saved on all 8 PCs together with a personal video of the
whole race


o Communication
Discord voice chat rooms will be created for each team and their respective
support crew and managers. This will be used to driver briefings, race
director and marshal communication and caster communication with the
drivers and other team members during race should it be required.


o Penalties
  ▪ Race Behaviour

  ▪ Track Cut – automatic detection
  ▪ Unfair manoeuvres – Drive Through Penalty if detected in real time and + 1 minute on final

     timing if detected via replay. Marshalls may call a black flag (disqualification) depending on

     the gravity of the manoeuvre. 

▪ Others: In case of further evaluations, the Race Director will establish penalties based on his/her

   expertise and common sense and can add penalty seconds at the end of a race, disqualify any

   participant in case of a post race complaint or set an evaluation period to take the best
 
 decision for each case

o General behaviour
▪ Hacking: any hack detection will result in lifetime disqualification from the series.

▪ Sabotage: it is absolutely forbidden to (on any of the machines and components of the area)
   ▪ Install any software on the competition rigs
   ▪ Edit any system or game file
   ▪ Voluntarily damaging any of the components in the Area. Transgressors will be reported to local authorities.

● Car Selection
Teams will be given the opportunity to select their vehicle of choice to be used for
the duration of the series once their entry into the series has been confirmed.


● Car Setup
Car Setup will be free to be edited for all sessions


● Session Settings
o Weather: set by Race Direction as Dynamic and will evolve randomly
o Daytime: set by Race Direction


o Assists:
  ▪ Banned: Ideal Line, Stability Control
  ▪ Allowed: Auto Pit Limiter / Auto Clutch / Auto Lights, Wiper, Engine Starter

o Track grip: set by Race Direction


o Time Multiplier: 1x 


● Hardware Setup (where applicable)
All the 8 simulators will use the same PC config and software config, same monitor,
same audio devices, same control devices and same monitor stand and sim racing
rig. A checklist will be performed on each machine before official competitions. 


● It is absolutely forbidden to insert any USB device or connect any Wi-Fi device to
any of the simulator components. Transgressors will be lifetime banned from the
series.

 

● Arena Technical Issues Management:


o Hardware or Software fault of 1 Racing Rig only after lap 1: DNF, race will
continue
o Hardware or Software fault of 1 Racing Rig only before lap 1: New start
procedure
o Hardware or Software fault of more than 1 Racing Rig or network or power
issue before 70% of the race total time, red flag, restart procedure under
safety car for the remaining time. The remaining time will be approximated
to a multiple of 5 minutes.
o Hardware or Software fault of more than 1 Racing Rig or network or power
issue after 70% of the race total time, red flag, last completed lap will be the
final lap.

 

7. Race Points Allocation

Points will be allocated based on combined overall standings of Pro, ProAm, Am and any other divisions that may be added to the race schedule. Pro division will be placed from 1st to the number of participating drivers, with the ProAm winner placeing below last place of the Pro division and so forth for Am and other any other division.
